Grant County Hazard Mitigation Plan – 2023 Draft Review Period

The public is invited to review and comment on the Draft 2023 Grant County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan update.

The 14-day comment period begins on February 28 at 11 a.m. A brief presentation of the draft plan will be held at the Grant County Board of County Commissioner’s meeting on February 28, 2023, at 11 a.m.

In response to federal mandates in the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000, the process to update the plan began in 2021 with the formation of a planning partnership. This county-wide partnership helped to pool resources and create a county-wide hazard mitigation strategy. The process was led by Grant County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Management and funded by FEMA planning grants.

Public input was received throughout the planning process through a survey and public meetings held in May 2022.

The plan is composed of two volumes. Volume 1 explains the planning process, describes the county-wide risk to hazards of concern, and discusses county-wide mitigation actions. Volume 2 contains annexes for each of the planning partners with specific risks and mitigation actions identified.

The plan can be downloaded at https://bit.ly/3XN6KCV.

The pubic is encouraged to provide input on the draft plan. Please send any questions or comments about the plan to kforeman@grantcountywa.gov.

The comment period will be open until March 14, 2023.
