The city of Moses Lake announced on June 16 it would be replacing the mechanism of a traffic light at the intersection of Valley Road and Central Drive.
The traffic light’s controller was damaged by the power feeding the signal cabinet during the city’s ongoing water main construction at the Valley and Central intersection, Columbia Basin Herald reported.
“We understand this causes delays in getting through the intersection and have done all we can to adjust the timing of that light,” Municipal Services Director Fred Snoderly told Columbia Basin Herald. “We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause.”
The damage affected the mechanism controlling how long the light stays red or green. Currently, it is controlled by a timer, leading to longer than normal waiting times, Snoderly told the Herald.
The equipment needed to repair the traffic light is projected to arrive and be installed in mid-August.
