Grant County reported on July 13 its eighth COVID-19 associated death, according to a press release from Grant County Health District

The county’s Health District identified the fatality as a Mattawa man in his 50s, who died at his residence. The agency said an investigation found no evidence of workplace exposure, but attributed community spread to how the man contracted the coronavirus.

“Grant County Health District grieves the loss of a community member,” GCHD said in the press release. “Our hearts are with his family and friends. On behalf of our staff, Grant County Health Officer, and Board of Health, we are so sorry for the loss of your father, grandfather, uncle and friend.”

Officials are urging residents – especially those who are in the high-risk category for catching the disease – to wear a mask when venturing out into the public, practice social distancing and limit the size of their gatherings.
