The Moses Lake School Board has voted to give families the choice of one of three learning environments as students return to school this fall: full-time on-campus learning, online learning or a combination of the two.
The plan still has to be approved by the Grant County Health District and the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, the Wenatchee World reported.
Students at Moses Lake High School who opt for the blended plan will attend four 90-minute classes two days a week and participate in online learning the other three days of the week. Those in the full-time on-campus program will have seven classes and follow a four-period-per-day block schedule. Those enrolled in full-time remote learning will use the district's self-guided Apex curriculum.
Schedules for middle and elementary schools have not been determined yet, but the goal is to keep the middle school schedule very similar to the high school one, the Wenatchee World reported.
State grading laws will be in effect this fall, meaning students can fail classes.
A randomized survey of parents with school-age children revealed that 6.5% of parents were not planning to have their students return to campus this fall. This could result in a $7.7 million state funding appropriation shortfall next fall.
