As hundreds of ballots continue to be counted, local elections are seeing very little change for candidates’ position in the race, Columbia Basin Herald reported.
Danny Stone, who is running for Grant County Commissioner No. 1, was only boosted a single point, bringing his share to 44% of all of the votes counted as Mark Wanke, who is in the third place, went from 22 to 21%. The second-place candidate, Earl Romig, stayed at 33%. He and Stone are expected to go head-to-head in the November general election.
As for Grant County Commission District No. 2, Rob Jones, who is hoping to unseat incumbent Tom Taylor, has kept his two-point lead over Taylor at 50%. Taylor is currently at 48%, Columbia Basin Herald reported.
Things could continue to change as ballots make their way in. The deadline is on Aug. 21; that’s when the Washington secretary of state will officially certify the primary election.
