Adams County officials announced the need for faster internet was realized when many residents couldn't access the telehealth website during the COVID-19 crisis.

Through a study, Adams County plans to identify where better internet access is needed most in the county. However, that was in 2018 and efforts have been slow, iFiberOne reported.

Meanwhile, one state organization acknowledged the county’s dilemma and offered a broadband-related grant to the rural area.

On September 17, the Washington State Department of Commerce teamed up with Better Health Together (BHT). As a result, Adams County will receive part of the $207,000 grant. Reports reveal that funding will pay for 18 broadband grant applications. These applications are for projects in eastern Washington. One of the projects is in Adams County.

Adams County’s economic development director, Stephen McFadden, told iFiberOne that the grant will help cover the local matching funding obligation which will lead to more grant funding assistance that will fund a broadband study.
