With improved access and added utility infrastructure, the Westside Employment Center in Moses Lake is showing growing promise, according to Grant County leaders.
The 2,100-acre industrial park will be transferred to the county around mid November, according to a post by iFiberOne. Port of Moses Lake completed road and utility access work at the site earlier in the fall.
In 2018, the Port completed a feasibility study with funding assistance from the state's Community Economic Revitalization Board (CERB), according to the post. The report demonstrated a future need for industrial sites with support for food processing, aerospace, air cargo, and Clean Technology manufacturing and greater than 100 acres in area.
Stroud Kunkle, the president of the Port of Moses Lake Commission, sees the potential for the new industrial park to aid in future grant proposals and growth.
“The Westside Employment Center is a major step in achieving the Port’s vision of diversifying our region’s economy and leveraging opportunities with the Grant County International Airport," Kunkle was quoted as saying in the release. "We are pleased with the partnership with Grant County, the City of Moses Lake, WSDOT and CERB, and with the cooperation and involvement of Unique Properties and Central Terminals who own land in the WEC.”
