City of Moses Lake issued the following announcement on Nov. 25.
The COVID-19 pandemic has further isolated a population that is already challenged: those living in eldercare facilities.
It is why the City of Moses Lake’s Museum & Art Center launched “Project Postcard.”
A total of 266 cards are being sent to seven different eldercare facilities with live-in residents in this first batch.
The response from the facilities has been positive and Museum staff hopes to send more, Museum Manager Dollie Boyd said.
“We hope these postcards bring a smile to those who receive them. The designs were created by local artists and colored by members of the community,” Boyd said. “The people who made these cards were really excited to be able to reach out and connect with people who may be isolated at this time.”
Local artists used the theme of “Gratitude” to guide their work. The postcards were made with joyful designs and community members colored the pictures and wrote messages of care and concern on the reverse.
People who have postcards to return can mail them to the Museum, at 401 S. Balsam St., Moses Lake, or bring them to the utility drop box behind the Civic Center.
