The $12 million Rattlesnake Flat wind farm is undergoing construction in Adams County.

In April, Clearway Energy Group and Avista Utilities began constructing the wind farm on 20,000 acres near Lind, The Wenatchee World reported in December

The Rattlesnake Flat project consists of 57 160-megawatt wind turbines that can power approximately 38,000 homes.

During a virtual ceremony on Dec. 15, Avista Corp CEO Dennis Vermillion said that the project supports the company’s goal of “providing clean, reliable energy to customers at a reasonable cost.”

The $12 million investment is expected to generate $350,000 annually. It has also created 250 jobs in the county during construction.

"We knew the timing was right for this project for Avista because it captured lower turbine prices and all the federal and state tax benefits, which of course is a big benefit to our customers," Vermillon said the Wenatchee World reporte. "Market changes, including reductions in the cost of wind power facilities and the tax incentives, really have combined to make this an excellent time to acquire long-term output from cost-effective wind resources."

According to The Wenatchee World, $1.5 million in property tax revenue will be contributed during the first year of its operation and approximately $700,000 annual average in the next 30 years.
