We would like to introduce you to our 2022 Ritzville Community Parade Grand Marshal: Barba Freese Jolly!.
You might know Barb from her involvement with 4-H and rodeo, love of genealogy, or perhaps you've been lucky enough to fall in love with her famous brownies!
Barb is known for her warm personality, humble spirit, and servant's heart. When she found out she was going to be grand marshal because of her service to the community, her reply was, "But I'm just having fun!"
She was born in Ritzville in 1934, and fell in love with 4-H at a young age. During high school, she decided she wanted to focus on a career as an Extension Agent. It was also during high school when she got hooked on rodeo!
She attended WSU and then Colorado State University, and became an Extension Agent, working in Colorado, Arizona, and Oklahoma.
While her husband was a fighter pilot in Vietnam, she was teaching English in Thailand.
She is focused today on giving back to the community, and helping preserve historical documents. She greatly enjoys genealogy and helping people learn more about their ancestorial lineage.
When she isn't helping people trace their family roots, she is making brownies, because "No one can have a bad day with a mouth full of chocolate!"
