The imposter scam continues

The imposter scam continues. We have heard that more people have received calls. This scam will always be circulating, so beware. This time the swindlers are claiming to be one of our detectives.

Here is another reminder...

The impostor scam: We've learned that some people have received calls from impostors claiming to be from the Grant County Sheriff's Office, telling the intended victims that they need to pay a fine, and then pressuring the intended victims to share financial information over the phone in order to pay the fine.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office won’t call, email, text, or message you on social media to ask for money. Anyone who does is a scammer.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office will never call, email, text, or message you on social media to threaten you with arrest. In fact, no government agency will do that. But scammers will.

Never pay anybody who contacts you out of the blue and tells you to pay. Don’t give them access to your bank account, don’t buy cryptocurrency or gift cards, don’t wire money, and don’t send cash.

Just don’t pay them. It’s a scam.
