BAS-AM program seeks local businesses, nonprofits for student project partnership

The first cohort of students in the BBCC Bachelor of Applied Science in Applied Management program are in their senior year and on track to graduate this spring. To round out their year, students will need to complete a culminating capstone project and are seeking local businesses and non-profit organizations to partner with.

The Applied Management Capstone Project takes place over Spring Quarter, 11 weeks from April 3 to June 15, 2023. During that time, student teams will be paired with a local business or organization, and applying what they’ve learned in the program, will work collaboratively to help solve a real-world current challenge or opportunity their partner business is experiencing.

Projects can cover a variety of management topics including human resources, marketing, financial management, business accounting, leadership, operational management, project management, and communications.

There is no cost to become a Capstone Project Partner, although participating businesses and organizations are expected to share their time and attention in mentoring their student team over the course of the project. Teams will meet about two to three times throughout the quarter.

BAS Coordinator Anne Ghinazzi said capstone projects will be a benefit to both students and the businesses and organizations that participate.

“This is a win-win for BAS-AM students, community partners, and BBCC. By the end of the project, partnering organizations will receive a research-based written report and presentation outlining recommendations our students have developed. BAS-AM students have the opportunity to apply their learning in an experiential, real-world business scenario and connect with a professional team at a local organization,” she said. “The project demonstrates BBCC’s commitment in preparing students to apply their education with the needs and demand of local employers.”
