Promotions of three Deputies and the transfer of one Sergeant to a new assignment | Grant County Sheriff's Office

Grant County Sheriff Joe Kriete today announced the upcoming promotions of three Deputies and the transfer of one Sergeant to a new assignment. The promotions were decided after an in-house testing and selection process.

Detective John Wallace will be promoted to Sergeant and will be remaining in the Major Crimes Unit. John has been with the Sheriff’s Office for 24 years and the last 12 years with the Major Crimes Unit.  John has extensive training not only in the major crimes field but also extensive leadership training from his years in the U.S. Military. John’s expertise includes polygraph examiner, subject matter expert on internet crimes against children, and cellphone and third-party resource geo-location analyst. John retired from the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Air National Guard in 2013 as a senior non-commissioned officer.  

Corporal Nick Overland will be promoted to Sergeant and will be assigned to the Bravo patrol crew. Nick has been with the Sheriff’s Office for eight years and a Corporal for four years. During his time as a Corporal, he has acted as a Sergeant for nearly a year combined due to some extended staff absences. Nick is a former member of the Moses Lake Regional Tactical Response Team (aka TRT). He is currently a Defensive Tactics Level 1 instructor and has completed First Line Supervision training. Nick is currently a K9 handler with K9 Chewy.  

Detective Jeff Wentworth will be promoted to Sergeant and will be assigned to the Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team (aka INET). Jeff has 22 years in law enforcement and four of those years with the Sheriff’s Office. He spent nine years with INET during his time with Ephrata PD and the Sheriff’s Office.  During his time in INET he was part of the clandestine lab team, worked against criminal street gangs, and became the subject matter expert on property seizures, search warrants, and drug cases. Jeff is also a polygraph examiner assigned to INET as a detective.  

Sergeant Jaret Fulbright will be reassigned from Patrol to the Traffic Unit. He will be overseeing traffic-related investigations and supervision as well as some additional responsibilities. Jaret has 11 years of service with the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. He is a certified motorcycle operator, collision investigator, field training officer, and field training officer instructor.
