Officials in Moses Lake City continue to move ahead with their plans for a homeless camp in the hopes it will address concerns from residents, and especially local businesses owners, over the increased number of homeless living in the area near Neppel Park.According to an Oct. 5 iFiberOne News article, city officials plan to lease the former lumber yard property along East Broadway Avenue to establish a homeless camp with portable housing and security which the homeless could access from 9 p.m.
A former Penhallurick lumber yard will soon become a temporary, managed homeless camp after a recent vote by the Moses Lake City Council as part of the city's plan to deal with the homelessness.
Grant County health officials are sounding the alarm when it comes to in-person instruction for the state's school districts while citing a spike in COVID-19 cases in the North Central area of the state as well as the recent school outbreaks in other states showing how fast young people can spread the virus.
